Raw Fibre

We also have some raw fibre suitable for craft work. This fibre is mainly coarser material, around 30 to 40 micron as well as some lovely soft Suri neck fibre which for some reason or another didn't make it to the mini mill. All colours are the natural colours of the fleece; we don't dye our alpaca.

This material has been hand picked to remove most vegetable matter but has not been washed. You can wash it in a laundry net by soaking it in a proprietary raw fibre washing detergent (read the instructions), rinsing and spin drying to remove excess water. Let it dry flat naturally. Once it is dry, you can card it or pull it to the desired shape. The broader material should be able to be felted into hats or stuffed into pet beds. The finer material can be hand spun into a lovely yarn, or felted into a fun scarf.
